Our Vinyl Collection

Currently, much of our vinyl comes from the collection of Angela’s uncle, Charles Williamson. Born in Belfast in the 1930s, he has led an exciting, itinerant life, working in England, New Zealand, Rhodesia and South Africa, collecting vinyl records and books along the way. He had eclectic taste and supported many South African bands such as the legendary Freedom’s Choice but also loved jazz, blues and rock. He developed an impressive collection of records from the 1960s, 70s and 80s, keeping them in pristine condition. He had a record stall with a friend at the Sunday markets in Johannesburg in the 1980s, where he sold vinyl but also added to his collection. He moved to Australia in the early 1990s and eventually relocated to Brisbane for the warm weather.
Tragically, his record collection was damaged in the Brisbane floods of February 2022, when his flat and many of his possessions were destroyed. The vinyl was rescued, then meticulously cleaned and categorised by Angela’s librarian sister-in-law, but many of the covers were beyond salvaging. Some covers have survived and are a little wonky, but the records still sound as clear and fresh as the day they were pressed!
If there is a particular artist from that era that you are searching for, feel free to get in touch. We may just have the original vinyl.
We also buy vinyl so get in touch if you have a collection to sell.
